Yoga Styles

Class Styles

To find out which style best suits you, try attending a few various classes. Some styles are better for a getting a good work-out, whereas some are better for being restorative or gentle. It's important to take into account your physical condition and goals of your yoga practice when deciding which style to pursue. The classes do not include Chanting or philosophy unless specifically stated in the description.

Restorative Yoga
This style of yoga is great for pain/stress relief, athletic performance and anyone looking for a well-rounded practice. Therapeutic Yoga combines Restorative Yoga (stretching using the support of props), strengthening the muscles in the body that can create pain due to weakness, breathing techniques, and other therapeutic modalities. Therapeutic Yoga is a core practice which helps you experience the ease which underlies other yoga practices. Open to all levels.

Beginners
For students new to yoga or those looking for a gentle class to reduce tension. Learn breath and body awareness, optimal posture and body mechanics. Focused on proper alignment, but at the same time giving you a well rounded class to benefit the whole body. This class promotes balance, flexibility, and stress release.

Beginners Yoga 2

For those that are interested in a slightly more demanding class than the beginners yoga. The pace might be faster, includes more options to deepen the postures and introduces more poses, but all are still suitable for a beginner level.

Gentle Yoga

Gentle Yoga is designed for students who prefer a class less vigorous than Beginners, but more active than Restorative. It is also ideal for students experiencing illness, injury, or chronic pain.

Power Yoga
Classes are taught at a moderate pace with poses linked together, includes basic technique and alignment cues while incorporating variations and longer sequences to challenge and inspire. Taught so all can participate, play and learn safely.

Yoga Roots

This is an alignment-based yoga class emphasizing the use of props and longer holds. Clsses usually revolve around a specific theme (forward bends, backbends, twists, working towards inversions, etc) and may include flow as a way to awaken the body to prepare for deeper work. This class is suitable for all levels. Modifications are given allowing the students to choose a beginning or more advanced practice according to their needs.

Prenatal

This class provides sacred space, community, and ceremony for the mother-to-be, creating a rite of passage for this very special time! We will practice meditation, breathing techniques, physical postures for strength, flexibility, and stress-relief, as well as deep, restorative relaxation. Our time will include a discussion circle and journaling. This class is geared toward the second and third trimester. Private Lessons

Special Cases
If you are looking for personalized yoga practice either because of age, pre-natal, illness or anything else that would require special attention then this session would be for you.

Going Deeper in your Stretches
Working with your breath and physical limits, in this session the instructors hands guide you deeper into the poses and stretches. Incorporates massage techniques to release tension in the muscles, which can inhibit full freedom of movement.

Perfecting the Postures
This private session is great if you are having trouble mastering certain postures or if you would like one-on-one guidance in the poses. We will record you moving into, staying in and moving out of the yoga postures. You will take this recording home, so you can see your poses from all angles, after all knowing is half the battle. After 10-20 minutes of recording your poses, we will work on the postures individually, giving you tools to help you perfect the posture for your body.

Testimonial

I have come to fully enjoy yoga. The things I enjoy about yoga: the non- competitiveness and the discipline it teaches you about yourself. I was nervous the first time, but soon came to realize everybody stays within their mats. Since I have started practicing yoga, I have seen multiple benefits. I'm taking better care of myself. I'm sleeping better, feel less stressed out, and eating better. I just feel better, overall. My wife says I'm in a good mood much of the time! - Jim Ferrel
